This course runs through the basics of LaTex that can help you create professional-looking documents. This can enhance the presentation of your scientific reports, papers, presentations and word articles.

Course Description

This is a 2-lesson course on LaTex that will help you to write professional-looking scientific reports. It is based on the WYSIWYM methodology, meaning you can just type out the contents of your document and the computer will take care of formatting. Users can just enter plain text and let LaTex handle the rest.

Latex is an important tool as it helps to separate style from content. Once a document is written, one can change the appearance with ease without much of an issue. Many scientific journals and dissertations require the submission of a single style and Latex is useful for that. Latex allows a standardised style template to be created and it can be used throughout. This helps to increase time efficiency. On the web, there are hundreds of styles which can be used.

No prerequisites are required. No prior experience is assumed.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, students should be able to use Latex to write documents, understand how to choose the appropriate styles and develop an appreciation for publishing documents.
